Baby boomers may have to work at least two more years if they want to have sufficient financial resources for retirement, according to a recent study by the Center for Retirement Research, Boston College.

For workers in their 50s whose nest egg is primarily through company-sponsored 401(k) retirement plans, their median assets are just $60,000--far short of what most will need to live comfortably in their so-called golden years. Researchers concluded that working longer has emerged as an important option for improving retirement income security.
